Detailed Structural Design of the Mattress Press and Roll Machine

Based on the analysis of the mattress press and roll machine, a 3D simulation assembly was performed, and the design of the mattress press and roll machine is shown in Figure 2. The specific structural design of the mattress press and roll machine is as follows:

  1. Belt Mechanism: The belt in the mattress press and roll machine is installed on two roller shafts, with bearing seats installed at both ends of the shafts, all mounted on two inner side plates. A belt support frame, made from hollow steel welded together, is placed between the two roller shafts to withstand the pressure during mattress compression in the mattress press and roll machine. The ends of the support frame are mounted on the inner side plates. The belt support frame is welded, and due to welding stress and errors, it may not ensure parallelism. After the bolts are locked, the parallelism of the inner side plates may also not be guaranteed. The bearings at both ends of the roller shafts are self-aligning bearings to ensure the roller shafts rotate properly. The support frame consists of two layers of hollow steel, with the lower layer supporting the belt and the sides clearing the belt guide rails. The active roller shaft's two bearing seats are equipped with long slot holes on the corresponding inner side plates for belt tensioning.

  2. Motor Drive Mechanism: The motor operates in one direction in the mattress press and roll machine, and precision requirements for this structure are not high. A worm gear RV reducer is selected for its economical suitability. The servo motor and the reducer flanges are mismatched and cannot be directly connected. Therefore, an additional reducer seat is added to facilitate installation. As the concentricity of the reducer seat is not very high and the cost of the motor and reducer is relatively high, a coupling is added to prevent damage from misalignment. The reducer has a hole output, and a stepped shaft is designed. One end of the shaft is installed on the reducer, and the other end is installed on the active sprocket. Both ends of the stepped shaft have key slots for installing flat keys to transmit power. The driven sprocket is mounted on the stepped shaft of the active roller shaft, with a spacer to press the sprocket against the inner ring of the bearing seat using bolts and washers. An additional sprocket is added to tighten the chain, and the sprocket is designed with a stepped shaft. The stepped shaft is supported by two deep groove ball bearings, and the bearing's outer ring is installed in a bearing sleeve and locked with bolts on the inner side plate. A long slot hole is added to the inner side plate to adjust the chain tension. A protective cover is installed around the sprocket to prevent injury.

  3. Encoder Mechanism: Self-aligning bearings are installed at both ends of the follower roller shaft in the mattress press and roll machine, and the bearing mounting seat is designed to be lower than the roller shaft surface to avoid friction with the roll. A threaded hole is processed at one end of the roller shaft, and a small shaft with external threads is designed. To prevent damage from misalignment, the encoder shaft is connected to the small shaft via a small coupling. The encoder is mounted on a sheet metal bracket, and the bracket, along with the bearing seat, is fixed to a welded component made of hollow steel. The ends of the welded component are fastened with bolts to the two inner side plates, so the follower roller shaft is installed at the front end of the entire mattress press and roll machine. After contacting the roll, it rotates following the spindle.

  4. Cylinder Mechanism: The inner and outer side plates are connected with spacer sleeves through pin shafts, allowing fine adjustments to the belt's inclination angle to match the spindle. The outer side plates have two linear bearing seats, and the linear bearings are compressed by end caps. The chrome-plated hard shaft is supported by two brackets and installed on the feeding platform. The feeding platform has cylinder seats, and cylinders are installed between the adjustable angle seats A and B. The cylinder shaft is mounted with a Y-type joint, and the outer side plate is extended with a plate connected to the cylinder joint. This allows the entire belt mechanism to move back and forth along the linear shaft via the cylinders in the mattress press and roll machine.
